[/img] Solex trotted after Kira, keeping a steady pace and a comfortable distance behind her. He kept quiet as they made their way quickly through the trees and underbrush. After a while the scent of the Saltren was apparent and Kira stopped to howl. Another answered her, and she spoke. "We're in the clear," she said. "Alpha Harkness is coming to meet us." Solex sat down and placed his large feet together between his knees. They did not match his slender legs, but they were good in deep snow. He jumbled through his own thoughts silently. He wondered what kind of relationship Kira had with this alpha. A female alpha. Perhaps they were romantically involved. Females running with females. It was a human tendancy he was fascinated by. He knew so little about them, despite living with shifter. Most did not divulge much information about their human lives. Unfortunatly. The black female alpha soon met them at the border. "Kira! Please, come over. You're always welcome," Harkness looked him over. "You as well." She then stepped back and turned to him. "Hello to you, my name is Vivian Harkness. If you don't know I am the alpha here. I'm afraid I don't know your name, would you be willing to tell me?" Solex stayed seated and dipped his head, keeping his silver ears back. "Hello as well, Alpha of the Saltren. I am Solex, son of Silas Blanc, Alpha of the Runedar. We are humbled to be in your good graces, and hope to remain so." He spoke as his father did, and tried his best to radiate his father's wonderful sense of dignity and ease. He hoped the Saltren alpha would would see this and not suspect any distrust.

Solex trotted back towards Runedar in the dark. His meeting with the Saltren had been brief and uneventful. Solex thought, in his opinion, The alpha would not last long. He had a way of figuring these things, and this was his impression from the short meet. It did not have to do with the individual, but more to do with the whole and how they would react under leadership from the individual. Sure enough, several weeks later, Solex heard that the female alpha had been replaced. Short term. During the following weeks Solex did not see much of his father during the day. The white alpha spent most of his time patrolling the borders, watching, listening, observing, and meeting any strangers with questions or warnings. Only for a few hours did he return to the Ronde for sleep and allow others to take over. But as soon as he felt rested he was immediately up and running the border. The regular hunts were not always succesful and all of the wolves could not always depend on what the pack caught. Most everyone had to do some of their own scrounging. Except for the nursing mothers, who were always brought choice cuts. Solex felt restless. He wanted news, any news about the other packs, other alpha's. He wanted to know about Xeno. He wished he knew some wolf with ties inside Astran or Akastran that could feed him information. But that would be impossible. Said wolf would be found out for sure and instantly killed. His thoughts battled as he considered visiting a neighboring pack to sniff out the latest gossip. He whipped his head around to nip a flea on his hindquarters. He found it and ate it. I'll be glad when snow falls again and freezes these stupid fleas, he thought. But the thoughts of hatred for fleas was replaced quickly by his first idea. Visit, he thought, Maybe a visit.

The past few weeks had been a rather rough, stressful time, particularly for Kierya. Suited for a more cheery, comfortable environment, the constant order and conduct that corrupted the pack’s schedule put a very heavy burden on her shoulders. Still, she hated feeling like a weak link, and thus did her best to pull her weight around, hunting and scouting to whatever extent was needed. The entire atmosphere seemed more dreary than usual, but she understood the need for awareness.
As was easily perceived from her fellow pack mates, Kier herself had questions regarding the other packs. Most importantly, about the possible threat of the Astran. She had heard rumors about Xeno plotting with the Akastran alpha, but the extent of their plans remained unknown. This was exceedingly bothersome for her, to feel so in the dark, but she knew that her alpha would keep her and the pack informed with necessary information. Any excess knowledge was his business, far past her rank.
As for that particular day, Kierya was about the usual, foraging for smaller prey to suffice her hunger and sniffing about the territory. Her excursions were mostly out of boredom, as there were few tasks for her to do at present time. She couldn’t help feeling a tad lonely as well, as every time she went to converse or engage in play with another wolf, she’d begin to feel like a nuisance and simply wander on her own again. But being more of a social wolf, Kier found herself more and more eager not only to please but to play as the days went by.
After a few small mice and a rather plump squirrel that took quite a bit of energy out of her, Kierya decided to visit her favorite spot in Runedar’s territory yet again. She discovered that whenever she felt lonely or upset, the colorful meadow always brought her piece of mind. After flopping down comfortably in the every-lively grass, she settled to observing the flora and fauna or the meadow, closing her eyes now and then to fully appreciate a deep breath of the pure, scent-filled air. True to the nature of the clearing, a sense of calm washed over her fluttering thoughts, allowing her a moment of peace in her trying days.
((OOC: nnnnnggh yes it’s repetitive and badly-written, but I’m exhausted and just had to do something with this rare Kierya muse -3- sorry if it's hard to follow...))

Kovarai flicked her head back and forth quickly, looking very bird like. She was deciding who to interrogate. The Ronde was busy, wolves were in and out, preoccupied. The weather was changing, and soon, it would be too cold to stay around the Ronde. The wolves knew the alpha was going to lead them to better grounds, but they did not know when. He was gone at the moment, scouting and running the territory with his best wolves. Solex had been left in charge of the Ronde.
Kovarai could see him from where she sat. He was down by the water. The youngling leapt up and sprinted over to him. She immediately began to wiggle, something she couldnt help but do around the alpha's son. She thought the world of him.
"Solex? Hey Solex! Whatcha doin?" She rubbed herself angainst him, her tail wagging. Unknowingly, she knocked him off balance. Solex stumbled and plopped his foot into the water.
"KOVARAI!" He snarled and nipped her cheek. "I was measuring the ice! Now it's broken." He frowned at the broken edges where his paw had gone in.
"Sorry 'bout that." Kovarai piped. "Wanna play something? I learned a new game from one of the shifters! It's called-"
"NO, Kovarai. Go away." Solex turned his back on her, heading for another piece of the water's edge. Kovarai pouted. He never paid her any good attention, only bad. She sulked back to the other wolves, looking for someone to pester. No one looked very interesting, or fun.
I don't need anyone to have fun, she thought, I'll make my own fun. And she trotted out of the Ronde, not bothering to let anyone know that she was.
