Xaen grinned as she flopped onto August's bed, admiring the softness of it by running her hand over the covers and snatching a pillow; placing it on her head and growling. "Gah, it's so soft!"
she exclaimed through the pillow. Tossing it back into it's place, she sat up and pushed her bangs out of her face, mismatched eyes scanning through the room and over it's many contents.
"A boarded window?" she thought, but didn't stop to stare. She figured if she had her secrets, he could have his. She gave a funny grin at the sight of a purple lava lamp hanging an inch off the ground from an outlet above a large light-wooded desk. Clothes were scattered everywhere and Xaen laughed at several pairs of misplaced boxers.
She hadn't given much though to the house when coming in, though embraced the slightly air-conditioned temperature change from the hot summer.
Xaen lazily swung her legs off the edge August's bed, smirking as she took notice of his new bag hanging stylishly from the edge of his desk-chair. "Dude, you gotta' admit: I shop like a boss." She laughed at getting kicked out after right-hooking a store clerk for staring at her chest, and then later trying to ride on a mall cop's Segway.
"So what do you want to do now?" she said lazily while laying back down on the soft mattress.

…I wish you could see my bedroom floor.
August was still thanking whatever higher power there was when he sneaked Xaen into his room that his dad was not home. The entire situation just begged for his dad’s wrath. Then again, his dad didn’t give a rat’s ass about August’s social life. Hell, if August was gay his dad wouldn’t know, even if he wore pink skinny jeans and frilly tanks.
”Gah, it’s so soft!” Xaen exclaimed through one of his pillows. He smirked as he hung his new messenger bag on his desk chair. He then pulled out the Sponge Bob Square Pants boxers that Xaen insisted he buy, threatening to steal them for him if he didn’t. He suddenly began to feel very awkward, however, as he saw Xaen’s mismatched eyes scanning his insanely messy room. ”Dude, you gotta’ admit: I shop like a boss.” Xaen said with a quirky grin.
August smirked and said, ”Sure, if that’s what you want to call stealing a ride from a cop’s Segway and punching a clerk in the gut.” But despite his teasing words, he had to admit, he had a hell of a time with Xaen. He usually hated going to the mall, and though he’ be in a shitload of trouble when his dad discovered just how much money he spent, it was totally worth it.”So what do you want to do now?” Xaen asked as she lazed around on his bed. ”Mmph, I dunno,” He replied as he turned away from Xaen and pulled off his shirt, still damp from the smoothie that Xaen spilled on him in an attempt to climb one of the decorative trees in the mall that he, of course, had paid for. He sifted through the pile of tees draped on his desk (which he would hang in a closet if he had one) and settled on a plain black one, lazily putting it on.
He turned back around and flopped down on his computer chair, spinning around in it until the wheel got stuck on some forgotten object on his floor. Suddenly, the door swung open and August’s sister popped her head in. Her eyes widened at the sight of Xaen and a smug smirk flashed on her face at the urge to tattle. But she thankfully had grown out of that stage, which had unfortunately lasted for a few years. August could now trust and relate to his sister, who was only younger by a year.”What do you want, Caedy?” August mumbled without venom as he rested his head on the back of his chair.”Um, just letting you know that Dad called, he’s coming home late tonight ‘cause of work.” August grimaced as she turned and smiled at Xaen. ”Good to see you’ve finally made a new friend,” Caedy said, meaning no harm despite her blunt words. And with that, she ducked back out, closing the door behind her. August waited until the footsteps had ceased and he heard what he suspected to be her bedroom door close to talk.”Sorry about that, no one in my family ever knocks…” He again mumbled, kicking at some clothes on the floor and avoiding Xaen’s eyes as to not blush from embarrassment. All he could do was hope that she wasn’t too uptight about awkward-sister-pop-ups and wait for a reply.

Xaen laughed as he pulled out what she called his new "Bikini Bottom." She slightly raised her eyebrows as August took off his shirt, clicking her tongue; unable to resist looking over his toned muscles and tilting her head, un-bashfully curious to see what it looked like from the front. It was kind of cute that he turned away, but Xaen laughed slightly at the act and dismissed the thought.
August fell comfortably into his computer chair and spun around with boredom Xaen began to absentmindedly trace circles on his mattress and was about to suggest something to do when an unfamiliar scent grew strong. She sat up a little straighter, but did so casually and watched the door from her peripheral vision, turning to it fully as it creaked open.
A girl just about their age peeked in and instantly both her eyes fell hard upon the blue-haired girl on August's bed. Xaen realized this might have a negative reaction, but was used to people's acts of prejudice and returned the stranger's glare with her own- complimented with a smirk.
The girl suddenly grew a smug look, and Xaen felt a small sense of danger but it disappeared instantly with August's voice.
"What do you want, Caedy?" he said calmly. Xaen's cold eyes never left the girl's, even as the siblings spoke. ”Um, just letting you know that Dad called, he’s coming home late tonight ‘cause of work.” Xaen didn't miss a beat, and stored August's grimace into her memory- noting herself to ask about it later. He smiled at her, and although Xaen turned to face him, her eyes still stayed on Caedy. "Good to see you've finally made a new friend," Came the blunt voice. Xaen held in a snort.
She'd taken note of the scent before, but gave it no heed as it didn't seem to have aggression or potential danger in it.
When Caedy was gone, Xaen turned to August and raised a brow as she listened to him mumble an apology. ”Sorry about that, no one in my family ever knocks…” She didn't miss the family. "Sister" she echoed with a lazy nod. They seemed to share a similar scent.
Xaen grinned as he turned away and looked down, she laughed. Pulling herself reluctantly off the silky-smooth bed, she stretched out for a couple moments and sighed contently. "I am so sleeping over one day," she muttered jokingly.
She walked over to the computer chair and tiredly took hold of August's arm. She easily pulled him up and dragged him over to the bed. "Sit closer; let's talk." She plopped herself down and into an oddly comfortable pretzel-shape on the bed, she turned to him with more ease. "So tell me about yourself. Have you ever been to Italy, Snooki?"

[/IMG]

[atrb=background,http://i814.photobucket.com/albums/zz64/BLoobloo72/AugustMiddle.png] …I wish I could speak Italian more fluently. August was pleased to see that Xaen didn’t seem much bothered by his sister. He tensed as she yanked him out of the chair and had his sit on the bed, but relaxed quickly. It was so easy to hang with Xaen, he just felt at ease with her. Unless, of course, there was an awkward conversation of some sorts, but she never seemed to feel awkward about them, so it always calmed him a bit.
He yawned, not caring to cover his mouth, and stretched his arms above his head, dark brown eyes watching Xaen’s porcelain features as she spoke.
”So tell me about yourself. Have you ever been to Italy, Snooki?”August chuckled. ”Nope, I’m vague in the language, too. But I think it’d be nice to travel. What about you? Ever been anywhere outside of this lousy place?” He mused, just as eager to learn about her as she seemed to be about him.
August hoped he could hold on to Xaen, as most of his middle school friends had buggered off after he started stylizing himself. Xaen seemed to be similar though, and to him, she was a needle-in-a-haystack kind of friend, and he was glad to have found her. She was quirky and cool, and good god was she fun to chase around the mall, even if now his feet were incredibly sore.

BITCH, I AM POSTIN THIS AT 4:50AM. OF-FUCKING-COURSE IT'S GONNA BE SHORT. DEAL WITH IT. T_T .. Please forgive this disgrace of a post.
”Nope, I’m vague in the language, too. But I think it’d be nice to travel. What about you? Ever been anywhere outside of this lousy place?”
Xaen didn't need a second to decide it was best not to mention her casual visits into Saltren territories, her night raids, and her brief travels to the Wild Lands. "Well I've always wanted to go to Spain but..." She trailed off for a moment, unable to bring herself to tell him it was because of her current financial situation. Covering the short break in speech by coughing, "Eh, you know. I don't really have the time." She sighed and rolled over to look at the ceiling.
"My father never really... had the time either... you know? And don't get me started on my mom," she groaned. Xaen scratched lazily at her side before rolling over again- unable to stop moving and enjoying the light, comfortable mattress. But her mind was drifting off into something darker, and Xaen decided it was best to change victim of the topic.
"So I caught that little grimace when... what's-the-bitch..." she muttered, trying to remember August's sister's name. ((OOC: Like how people mutter "What's-his-face" no rudeness intended)) ""When Caedy mentioned your snap-crackle-Papa. What was that all about?""

[/IMG]

[atrb=background,http://i814.photobucket.com/albums/zz64/BLoobloo72/AugustMiddle.png] …I remind myself to bring home the next bottle of pop I drink.
August listened intently as he laid back, arms behind his head, as Xaen talked about how she had always wanted but never had the time to go to Spain.
”We should go somewhere, sometime, then,” He commented coolly but in all seriousness, eyes still on the ceiling. He couldn’t help chuckling as Xaen continued to roll around on his bed. He totally understood though, for the first few days he had the mattress, it was all he could do to leave it for a bathroom break, the only reason being that he didn’t have an empty bottle to use.
He continued to contentedly listen to Xaen talk about her parents, though vaguely, until she mentioned his expression when Caedy popped in and mentioned his Dad.”What’s that all about?” She asked.
August sat up and clasped his hands together, clearing his throat and smirking. ”Well he was supposed to come home straight away and take us all out for ice cream, he said in a mocking tone, but his smile faded away and he turned away, facing forward and looking at the floor rather than Xaen.”But no, really, I’m glad that he’s coming home late. For one thing, it means I’m not going to have my head chewed off for having you here, and certainly not for our misbehaviors today, and second, it means I just don’t have to deal with him at all. My dad and I, we… don’t really see eye to eye. On pretty much everything. He stopped, realizing he was beginning to rant. He didn’t usually like to talk about his dad, but what the hell.
He sighed and laid back again, snatching a random rubber band off the floor and flinging it across the room. ”So d’you have any siblings?”((OOC: lol the entry is so jokes man.)) [/blockquote][/blockquote]

Xaen watched, the mischief in her eyes beginning to disappear as she watched August's features change. As he looked down, Xaen pulled herself up to lean back on her palms, looking at August, not too moved, but not uncaring.
"My dad and I, we… don’t really see eye to eye. On pretty much everything." At this, Xaen scoffed. "Anything? That's pretty harsh, dude."
She grabbed a pillow and held it to her chest, resting her head and basking in the softness before speaking again: "Well at least he agreed on which mattress-pack to buy. Jesus, everything's so soft!" August laid back again with a sigh and flung a rubber band across the room. Xaen grinned, bent over the side of the bed and retrieved a pair of his various scattered boxers and flung them across the room mockingly. She laughed and laid back, too.
"So d'you have any siblings?" Xaen shrugged. "From what the guys told me, I used to have the potential of a little brother, but my mom didn't want it. Said she already made that mistake." the girl snorted and rubbed at her nose-piercing subconsciously.
She distracted herself by looking around the room once more, loving the dim yellow glow, and the coolness of the air. Xaen rolled over and pushed August casually as if by accident, holding in a grin and hoping to push him off the bed. Rolling back over, she noticed something she hadn't before that made her turn back to look at August in his hazel eyes.
"You smoke?"

...I need to stop smoking
August cheered up a bit as Xaen made jokes out of his relationship issues with his dad, but couldn’t help not laughing as she flung a pair of boxers across his room.
”From what the guys told me, I used to have the potential of a little brother, but my mom didn’t want it. Said she already made that mistake,” Xaen replied to his previous question, wrinkling her nose. August’s smile faded and his brow furrowed.
”I’m sorry for that…” He muttered, not knowing what else to say. He had questions, of course, but found that if it was a touchy subject, he oughtn’t dwell on it. So instead they just lay in a silence, August twirling a stray string from his blanket around his finger, and Xaen looking around his room again.
”You smoke?”
Xaen turned and looked him right in the eye. Feeling like a deer in headlights, August took a slow inhale, his lungs feeling like they were closing up. He squirmed and broke eye contact, mentally slapping himself for leaving the evidence out in the open.
”I, uh-uhm…” He fumbled with his words, desperately trying to cover himself up or, at least, sugar-coat the situation. ”O-on the occasion… only when I’m feeling really stressed. I fell for the ploy that it was supposed to relax and relieve stress…” He trailed off, realizing he was blabbing and making himself obvious.
Nervous as fuck and fighting to keep himself from turning red with embarrassment, August squirmed a bit and then sat up, avoiding Xaen at all costs.

"I'm sorry for that..." August muttered symphathetically in response to hearing of her lost brother. Xaen waved it off with a cold hand. Despite the fact that August was her good friend now and they'd shared fun moments, Xaen still had so many secrets she didn't tell him, and most likely still wouldn't. Her past had been denied and pushed back, and the part with her parents... well, her Foster Care experiences had seen to that as well.
Xaen couldn't help but laugh at his guilty face regarding the cigarettes. "I, uh-uhm..." Xaen tilted her head wolfishly and watched August with a grin as he squirmed and tried to figure out what to say. He sat up and looked away, fumbling and constantly stuttering. She raised a brow, pressing him on. "O-on the occassion... only when I'm feeling really stressed. I fell for the ploy that it was supposed to relax and relieve stress."
Xaen laughed and slowly sat up from behind him, reluctantly taking her back off the soft mattress. She put a hand on his shoulder and grinned. "Hey, chill your dick dude." Leaning over to replace her hand with her chin on his shoulder, she smirked, "Between you and I, I think that's pretty punked up."
|
Falling back on the mattress again, Xaen sighed, rolled her head back and got a peak of the dark sky from the boarded windows. "Ugh, I should probably leave soon," she grumbled. The girl pulled up her hood and curled into herself on the mattress, and whined "I don't wanna gooooo... I'm not one for all that fluffy shit, but god damn, this mattress is made of the laughter of orphans or something." But Xaen sighed, remembering that August had implied his father wouldn't like her company. But then again... he also said that his father would be coming late.
She smirked and rolled over on her back, hood still up. Her mismatched eyes looked at August through her bangs and Xaen grinned as an idea came into her mind. Rubbing her leather-gloved hands together, she sat up and looked at August with a devious smile. "Say... What would your father do if we messed his room up a bit?"[/blockquote][/blockquote]

...I become a push-over.
August, still feeling concerned and awkward, was surprised when Xaen told him to calm down.
”Between you and I, I think that’s pretty punked up,” Xaen whispered into his ear, her chin resting on his broad shoulder. Her touch gave him Goosebumps, yet at the same time, warmth. Not knowing what to make of it, August simple turned his head and looked at Xaen through the corner of his eye, sparking a smile.
Xaen fell back on the mattress and growled. ”Ugh, I should probably leave soon.” August frowned and looked at his boarded up window; the light peeking through the cracks had turned a darker color. Disappointment showered over him at the thought of Xaen having to leave, despite the awkward parts of their conversations. Luckily, she had similar thinking. ”I don't wanna gooooo... I'm not one for all that fluffy shit, but god damn, this mattress is made of the laughter of orphans or something.” She grumbled, pulling her hood over her indigo hair and curling up.
August smirked at the girl’s childish behavior, but he didn’t want their fun to end either. He watched her as she rolled onto her back and stared at him through her dark bangs, grinning the devious grin she got whenever a mischievous idea reached her rebellious mind. ”Say, what would your father do if we messed his room up a bit?” August’s face fell, worry wracking his brain. Part of him didn’t want to say no to Xaen, but the other part knew the drastic consequences that’d come. ”I, um, I don’t think that’s a good idea…” He mumbled, avoiding eye contact as to not cave in so easily.
But in the end, he knew, he’d wind up giving in to Xaen’s persuasive ways.
