Kovarai floated through the trees at a lively trot, her shaggy ruff bouncing. She had no plans or notions, only sniffed and looked at anything that peaked her interest. She began to feel like going to one of her favorite spots, a lovely green place near the border. She had found it to be an excellent place for smells, and often crossed the border to take in the scents of the other pack. She had been told time and time again never to cross borders, but she found such warnings to be fun-killers. She approached greenwood and woofed gladly at the sight of the sun gleaming through the trees and highlighting specks of dust in the air. Tall trees and green bushes were all around and Kovarai found herself rolling in some green ivy. She happily trotted past Silas Blanc's scent marks and into the tiny bit of No-man's land. The young wolf went uncautiously into Sukri territory, wagging her tail. She had done this many times before, and had been punished many times before, but the punishment just did not stick with her. She sniffed lazily through the wood, growing excited as she happened upon a mouse. She chased it for several yards, but didnt catch it. She drifted into a patch of dewey moss and rolled in it. She wriggled on her back, growling with pleasure. She was caught up in her own folly. She paid little attention to the changing of the wind, and gave little thought to who the wind might deliver her scent to . . .

Dozens of scents swarmed into Haru's nose as he took a whiff of his surroundings. He was yet again on watch to make sure none of the Runedar got too adventerous.
It was a confused time, unfortunately. There were rumors of an uprising, rumors of genocide and rumors of mutiny. Every seemed flustered and confused of eachother; trust that was once encouraged was now demanded. If anything showed threat to the Sukri at this time, elimination was an order.
Haru never really understood why the Runedar were permitted to come so close to their borders. Something about alliances or such. He was never really one for 'politics'. Then again, if he was to become Alpha one day, he needed to understand the importance of maintaining connections outside the walls. And that's why, when a Runedar scent invaded his nose, Haru set off to make friends.
Female. Young. Not very large.
Haru forced himself to wag his tail as he trotted after the scent. That was what he was supposed to do, right? Make friends with the allies? His dark fur bristled slightly; then again, what if this stranger was a threat?
His sharp, topaz eyes caught onto the light figure of the female and he instantly calmed. It was just a pup, probably adventuring. Haru smelled the recent scent marks his pack had left, confused as to why the female would disregard such clear borders. "Hey there!" He called regardless. Haru changed his voice to the commanding one his father had often encouraged him to use when addressing others. "You are aware of the fact that this is Sukri land, right? Why have you tresspassed?" In his mind, Haru nearly melted in embarrassment-- Too medival, he decided.
As he got closer, he noticed the wolf was rolling around, seeming to be enjoying herself. But... Why? His head tilted, watching her roll about. "Are you uh... itchy or something?" Socialization had never been one of his skills.

Kovarai's head shot up as she heard a male voice call out to her.
"You are aware of the fact that this is Sukri land, right? Why have you tresspassed?" He continued. She finally saw that the voice belonged to a dark wolf who had come up suddenly. Kovarai gulped. He tilted his head.
"Are you uh... itchy or something?"
Kovarai didn't have a clue what he meant. Then she saw she was still halfway on her back. She scrambled up on her oversized paws.
"Itchy, of course i'm not itchy. I roll in moss because it smells good. Don't you ever roll in things that smell good?"
She smiled at him. She was so much more interested in the discussion about rolling, that she had completely forgotton about the whole tresspassing thing. Such was the way of Kovarai. She sprung to life and walked around the stranger quickly, taking in his features curiously.
"What's your name? Do you like to play? What's your favorite thing to roll in? I'm gonna be an Alpha female someday."
She spilled the contents of her brain without hesitation, unable to quiet her rampant curiosity. She added on the last bit in order to gain what she thought might be some kind of respect, but as soon as she said it she quickly forgot about it.
"I learned a new game! The shifters taught it to me! I'm so smart at learning new games."
She strutted in front of her new aquaintance, prancing and pointing her tail. She smiled again and tried batting her lashes. She thought herself to be a great beauty, and she was not quite wrong in this, for she was growing into a lovely wolf, but she was not much at the moment, splattered with mud and soggy with grass dew.

Haru was pleased to see the small twinkle of fear in the she-wolf's eyes. He gained some confidence in his intimidation and stood taller, showing his authority by raising his tail as well. He frowned, however as she scrambled back up on her paws and stood tall. He felt slightly challenged as she circled him, "Itchy, of course i'm not itchy. I roll in moss because it smells good. Don't you ever roll in things that smell good?"
Haru's dark fur bristled slightly as his ears folded back. He gave a puzzled expression in return. "No... What a foolish thing to do." Haru knew that his father would have said the same; rolling around would only belittle his appearance. He shook himself slightly to get rid of the imaginary dirt in his fur. Again, he analyzed the young female. Her golden pelt was ruffled and tangled with bits of moss, grass and dirt in her fur. She had the smell of Sukri on her now and that didn't please the alpha's son.
As he was about to question her identity, she piped up. "What's your name? Do you like to play? What's your favorite thing to roll in? I'm gonna be an Alpha female someday." He stepped back and his ears folded once more, eyeing the wolf with disbelief. Alpha female, eh? "My name is Haru, I'm planning on becoming Alpha myself." He disregarded her request for play and her odd question after. Haru began to question her authority when suddenly the female mentioned shifters. He blinked for a moment as she pranced infront of him and shamelessly lifted her tail and batted her eyes. He froze then snarled, stepping back. "Look, lady," he pawed at the air to get her to stop whatever she was doing. "I don't want you on our land if you have to do with shifters. Where is your pack and what do you wish to get from trespassing?" He ignored the wolf's innocent look and set to convincing himself that it was sinister.
((Yes, yes, I know, three paragraphs. Not exactly my grandest post but I hope it's all right. If Kovarai can convince Haru that she isn't danger, perhaps her stay can be extended? The stupid fancy-pants 'prince' could use a bit of a reality-check.))

Kovarai sat and her head swiveled back and forth at this Haru guy's questions. She was happy and pleased that he had called her 'lady' and was still so elated by it that she had to think twice about what he said.
"Uhh...pack? My pack is somewhere back that way." She said, distracted by something in grass. "I just came over here to play. It's alot more more fun over in these woods."
She stretched her paws forward nonchalantly and slowly rolled her self on her back. She looked up at the male and thought he was very handsome upside down. Not as handsome as Solex though. She stretched her paws a little farther in mid-air and brushed Haru's chin.
"I don't have much to do with shifter's if that's what you're worried about. I know some wolves don't like 'em. Most of them don't talk to me; they think I'm annoying."
She lay lazily, rubbing her cheek in the grass and curling her paws back in. As quickly as she had laid down she rolled over and sprung up. The little female had spotted a moth. She bared her bright spiky fangs and snapped at it. Then she thought it would be much more fun to play something with a partner.
"Hey, you play games . . . um . . . Harpu?" She had forgotten the male's name but she knew she was close. She put her ears back and wagged her tail low and submissively but vigorously. Back in Runedar, if she wanted someone other than a pup to play with her, she had to be submissive. She would try her best to do the same with this wolf. He did seem kind of stiff, but despite that, he might still be a fun playmate. She made a playbow and let her tail whisk back and forth over her rump. She smiled up at him, her eyes brightening. She had a flashing day dream and imagined them having the best times, playing tag and hide and seek. Maybe they could be secret friends and meet at the borders to play all the time!

"Uhh...pack? My pack is somewhere back that way." Haru's keen eyes caught sight of the little moth that seemed to be stealing the female's attention. "I just came over here to play. It's alot more more fun over in these woods," she said. The male frowned and rolled his eyes, she seemed to care only about 'playing' and 'fun.' It was strange and slightly uncomfortable for Haru to speak to someone who embraced their youth rather than their aging.
The younger wolf stretched her overgrown paws and Haru frowned upon the Sukrian grass she muddled in the act. She rolled over, suddenly, displaying her light belly to him. Haru bashfully turned his attention to her goofy grin. She pawed Haru's chin gently and he snorted, stepping back and shaking his head before assuming the same position above her. He thought she looked very vulnreable.
The female wolf finally answered his question regarding the shifters, easing Haru's concious just a bit before hopping back onto her feet and startling him. Haru stood tall and brushed off the bristles that had sprung to life, raising a brow at her question. "Hey, you play games... um... Harpu?" His lip rolled back slightly to show his disapproval in the mispronounciation. "It's Haru," he growled quietly.
The young shewolf wagged her tail submissively, making Haru feel more confidant before bowing. The male saw her eyes brighten as she smiled dreamingly. His ears folded slightly before he bowed as well, accepting her invitation and smiling slightly. This was foolish of him to do, he was an adult now. But perhaps it was then that he noticed his fur riding up his ass or his ego giving him a headache, but Haru smiled shyly as his eyes counter-attacked his companion's. "Yeah... yeah, I got game," he pounced.

Kovarai coulld scarcely believe it! He wanted to play! The little wolf yearling yelped and growled playfully, and ran in a circle. Her butt wriggled and her tail swept like a broom. She ran around Haru, gave him a few playful nips, and laughed. "Okay okay! Here's what we'll do: It's a new game I learned called 'simon says'. I don't know who Simon is, but you pretend to be him and the other wolves has to do what he says. Okay watch. Simon says sit. So you sit. And then you say Simon says to do few more things. Then you say "Lie down". Whoever lies down loses because simon didn't say to do it!" She became so worked up describing her new game and it's directions, that she started to pant. She was smiling and panting and had excited eyes. One might think she was crazed. And so she was, a bit anyway. She was glad to be playing with an adult. Most of her playmates were pups who were much smaller than her. She used to play with her brother, but he had become so solemn and mature lately. No fun at all. She hoped Haru was more fun. "So whaddya think, Haru, Haru, Harooo," She piped. "You like this game? Wanna try it? We can play something else if you want." She perked her ears waiting for an answer. "I'm Kovarai by the way, and you're Haru, Faru, Baru," She laughed and said his name again, like he didn't know his own name. No one had ever described her as sensible, for good reason. It could be said that she had a one track mind, and only one thing filled her thoughts at a time. In the pack, it was always known to everyone how Kovarai felt. She had the need to make rounds and report to everybody her feelings on various subjects. She also informed everyone of what she was most obsessed with at the moment and when she felt moody. Oddly enough, she did not inform everyone of her wanderings though. It was her secret, the only one she was able to keep. Although The fact that she would be severely punished helped her to keep the border crossings secret. Which was remarkable, because it seemed that Kovarai rarely ever thought of consequences. "What games are you good at?" She said, continuing the diologue with the Sukrian.

The she wolf seemed elated at his reply and abandoned her play-position to run in a circle, her tail wagging as actively as her rump. Haru hopped out of the bow as well at the nips he was receiving. He twirled around and returned fire, grinning hesitantly with each bite he gave.
"Okay, okay," the Runedarian called. She explained to him a more organized game. She was panting by the end of her speech and had her eyes wide with excitement. Haru shook his head at her crazed figure, distracted by the little pattern of drool now threatening to slip out her mouth. He tried to discreetly notify the younger wolf by tracing the outline of his mouth with his tongue but she would have none of it.
"So whaddya think, Haru, Haru, Harooo?!"
Haru looked at her incredulously before speaking, "All right, let's do this Simon activity..." He groomed his fur briefly as she introduced herself. "Kovarai," he tested. Haru believed the strange name suited its equally odd receiver.
Kovarai once again cooed his name, rhyming it with nonsenses and making him roll his pale-green eyes.
"What games are you good at?" Haru didn't falter in his smug reply, "I've got enough experience to beat you in Simon Says." He decided to take advantage of his superior ranking in the territory and chose for Kovarai to be Simon. "All right, you start."

"Oh, goody!" Kovarai squeaked. She laughed like a giddy dumb blond. The yearling marched a few feet away and flipped around, eying her playmate.
"Simon says, lie down," She said, her legs slightly quivering in anticipation.
"Simon says, raise your right paw."
"Simon says, wag your tail."
"Simon says, tilt your head."
"Raise your paw again."
The mere thought of trying to trip Haru up made her excited and she giggled. As soon as she uttered the Simon-less phrase, she rolled over and laughed as if enjoying her success in fooling him. She did not pay close enough attention to notice that she'd not succeeded at all. Haru still sat with his head tilted.
"Oh, that sure is a fun game, Don't ya think, Haru?"
Her attention span was unbelievably short, and she seamlessly moved on to the next thing.
"Tell me about you, won't you Haru? What's it like in your pack? Are there females? Do you have a mate? How do you get one?"
Kovarai had not always been so interested in mates, but recently her brother had begun talking of pursuing one. She had always admired Solex, but had never thought much beyond getting him to notice her or touch her. Now she had started thinking of him as a potential mate, wanting to keep pace with her brother. Here was an older wolf, who had agreed to play and yet obviously knew more about mature things than she. No one in Runedar would give her the time of day, but Haru might. His agreeing to play with her had given her the courage to ask him just how mates were acquired. She was suddenly no longer just a playful pup, but a sensitive adolescent female, confused by the ways of companionship. She sat still, which was rare, and contemplated.
"Can you ask just anyone to be your mate? Or do you have to wait for someone to ask you?"

Haru tolerated Kovarai's commands with an uncertain smile. Despite himself,, he found that the game really was sort of fun and grinned when the she wolf popped the first trick. Kovarai twirled around excitedly when she thought he messed up but he cleared his throat to show that he still maintained his earlier position.
"Oh, that sure is a fun game, Don't ya think, Haru?"
Haru stopped tilting his head and held it up once more. "Ye--" She cut him off by yapping on, "Tell me about you, won't you Haru? What's it like in your pack?"
"Well--"
" Are there females?"
"Of c--"
"Do you have a mate? How do you get one?"
Haru's ears flattened and his eyes widened in surprise. What ever happened to playing games? The gray wolf shook his head, disbelieving towards her unbelievably short attention span. Mates? Haru thought wryly; so the youthful Kovarai did have some maturity after all!
The tall male felt the cold winter breeze brush passed him as he thought of how to answer. Suddenly the same paranoia that infected his father's brain seeped into Haru's mind. His handsome pale eyes hardened slightly as he reconsidered his answer. Kovarai did ask an awful lot of questions... "No, I don't have a mate," he murmured despite himself. Haru remembered briefly a snippet of the lecture his father had given him on his future. Soon he would have to follow his brothers' footsteps and pursue a mate of his own.
Haru regarded her inquiry once more and tilted his head to ponder an answer, holding on to the small bit of paranoia. "Well I... It's instinct, I'm sure." He frowned, handsome features twisting to assist the expression of thoughtfulness. "I suppose you just charm them. Compliments, promises, spend time... Maybe offer them a position within higher rankings. Depends, really." He never mentioned how to deal with the decisions that would come after aquiring a mate. "I never thought of asking directly... I always believed it just sort of happened. Surprises you, I think." Though his father would have said otherwise, Haru felt this was the correct answer.
The Sukrian's eyes scanned critically at Kovarai's curious eyes. She didn't seem suspicious... perhaps he was overreacting. However that glint in her eye... it seemed to indeed, promise mischief. Haru snorted, what a wolf!
